This article gives basic knowledge about the Homeopathy and its initial days and progress.

Basics about Homoeopathy
Homeopathy was discovered by Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann in the year 1796. He was an MD in Allopathy of his time and had been practicing in Germany and expired in France.

After starting his practice, he was tired of the medical practice during his time which was mostly unknown about how it works. Many a times, patients used to fall ill and many a times die because of the treatments and not because of the disease.

He left his medical practice and sorted to translation of books. While translating the Cullen's Materia Medica, he came upon an article stating that Peruvian (Cinchona) bark treated Malaria because of its effects on the stomach. Unsatisfied by the explanation given, Dr. Hahnemann decided to take the Peruvian bark himself. On taking the peruvian bark, after some days he developed symptoms which were similar to those of Malaria. He came upon a conclusion that since the Peruvian bark creates Malaria like symptoms in healthy people, it thus has to cure Malaria from patients suffering of Malaria.

He thus inferred upon the re-discovery of the law of Similia Similibus Curentur which was previously stated by Hippocrates; which means "Let Likes be cured by Likes".

Progress of Homeopathy
Hahnemann researched further on Homeopathy and brought forward to the Medical Profession, the book "Organon of Rational Art of Healing" in the year 1810.
Later he wrote various editions of the book and the last edition was written in 1842 but published in 1921. Dr. Hahnemann died in the year 1843.

He also wrote books named The Chronic Diseases, Materia Medica Pura and Dr. Hahnemann with his followers proved more than 60 medicines during his lifetime.

Dr. Samuel Hahnemann also formed a new subject under the name of Repertory of which he had The Symptomen Codex.

Spread of Homeopathy
Homeopathy is spread worldwide like the other branches of Medicine and is used with increasing popularity. The Medical Practitioners who practice Homeopathic medicine in their prescriptions and have a proper official Homeopathy Education are known as Homeopaths or Homeopathic Physicians.

European continent is of course the motherland of Homeopathy as the birth of Homeopathy took there and many of the European countries have a good popularity for Homeopathy.
