Working of Health Insurance Policies - An Introduction

In the year 2006, nearly 43 million Americans did not know much about Health Insurance policies and health insurance - What it was and thus nearly 15% of American Population had no Health Insurance cover.

This resulted into the fact that the average per person cost of Medical Care and expenditure was rising gradually and it is statistically estimated that an average American is spending nearly four times on Medicine and Health as to the cost the American Government is spending on National Defense.

Thus with the increasing Health Expenditure costs came higher premiums of Health insurance. The fact sheet is that Health Premiums and Health concern is gradually increasing over the years and thus even the added workload is being taken care off by the Employers.

In the year 2006, Employer insurance premiums increased by nearly 7.7 % which was twice the rate of the rise in Inflation in the united States of America.

But in all the advantages and benefits of having a Health Insurance policy and all the promises of a Health insurance Company, one should also give a thought that when one is not suffering and not having any illness and to where does our monthly premium in our health cover go, when we are very well. Well, now that has become a rare entity and one needs to visit a doctor at least once a week or so, still this questions need to be answered.

What can we do if we are not employed and what all are the various plans and what does all those words like co-pays, claims, deductibles and co-insurance all mean?
