Special Diet Plans for Autism
|
Autism is regarded as a neurological disorder which makes the child less focused, have difficulty in communicating with others and do repetitive activities.
A survey conducted by Enzymedica and the Enzyme Research Group (ERG) reveals that a large number of autistic children have digestive problems. One feature that popped up in the survey was the fact that many autistic children had cravings for specific kinds of food, with sugary foods topping the list, followed by junk food and dairy products. These cravings, in turn, resulted in digestive difficulties.
What this survey implies is that the lack of digestive enzymes which are essential to convert food to energy can lead to childhood disorders, autism being one of them. Autistic children have reported problems of constipation, which thus shows that the digestive-sensitive-reacting foods could be avoided in daily diet plans.
As yet, the survey has not been widely accepted, but the relation between autism and digestion cannot be wholly dismissed.
