Dehydration denotes loss of water and dissolved salts from body, occurring, for instance, as a result of diarrhea. It may be due to water and electrolyte deprivation or loss of body fluids.
Water is lost from the body through respiration, skin, faeces and urine. Due to water depletion blood volume decreases and haemoconcentration supervenes. There are some reason which cause the dehydration mention below:
Failure of water intake
1. Deprivation of water and fluid 2. Decrease thirst 3. Depression of thirst centre 4. Paralysis of muscles of deglutination
Excessive loss of water
1. Acute gastroenteritis 2. Vomiting 3. Polyuria 4. Diarrhea
